The owners of this Ealing garden wanted a generous space for lounging out in the garden, to get rid of the lawn, and grow some vegetables. We chose basalt for the paving & steps, using both rectangles and plank sizes. They really liked leafy tropical plants and vibrant colours, so we included some tree ferns, banana plants, agapanthus and seasonal Dahlias & Cannas, as well as dark leaved Sambucus and Heucheras. These stand out well against the fence that was painted dark grey. There was room for a couple of timber sleeper vegetable beds at the end of the garden.
